StayDry® Waterproofing Knows Foundations

Sometimes, water damage is the “smoke” and foundation problems are the “fire.” Or sometimes old foundations just need help! Our team of contractors has over 100 years combined experience in fortress stabilization, foundation reinforcement, and anchor installation. The structural integrity of your foundation walls is nothing to take lightly —- basement walls collapse all too often, and your family’s safety could be at risk. Prompt repairs can mean the difference between a minor wall bulging and catastrophic damage.

Preparing for Foundation Repair

Is it a major foundation problem or simply a minor fix?

Before we recommend any course of action, we need to determine if it’s an actual foundation problem, or if the cracks you’re seeing are simply the result of water intrusion. Foundations do change as the house “settles” over time. If you have poured walls in your basement, cracks will occur as a result of hydrostatic pressure. However, it may not mean that the structural integrity of your home has been compromised. If waterproofing is what’s needed - good news! We can fix that easily with our polyurethane crack injection or other services.

Fortress Stabilization and Braced Basement Walls

In other cases, your foundation may have more serious issues that require intervention. In this type of situation, we will want to stabilize or brace your basement walls to restore their structural integrity.

Bulging or bowed basement walls can be minor, moderate, or severe. In the case of minor bowing, we can straighten and brace the basement wall by reinforcing it. Braced basement walls can be reinforced with rebar and cement or other high-strength materials like carbon fiber/Kevlar straps.

Moderate to severe cases, on the other hand, will require us to brace the basement walls with steel I-beams. In the most severe cases, the basement wall may be beyond repair and need to be rebuilt completely.

Minor Bowing or Bulging

Wall Straightening (Shear Reinforcement)

This is a smart, affordable alternative that can return a basement wall back to its original plumb state. After securely placing thick wood posts and blocks, our professionals drill holes into the blocks and reinforce them with 16-inch steel rebar. Finally, the cores are filled with concrete to the height of the drilled holes, and the holes are filled with cement. This comprehensive reinforcement is ideal for foundation walls with only a slight curvature.

Fortress Stabilization Carbon Fiber/Kevlar Straps

This advanced technology stops the wall from shifting without the need for outside excavation. The high-strength materials present minimal obtrusion or obstruction.

Moderate to Severe Bowing or Bulging

StayWall® Steel Brace Reinforcement

With the StayWall® technique, steel I-beams are attached to the floor joists of the home and then either bolted to or set beneath the concrete floor of the foundation. While they do create some obtrusion in the basement, they can be the perfect solution for more serious problems.

Complete or Partial Block Wall Rebuilds

This is the recommended method of foundation repair for walls that are too far gone to correct with the aforementioned methods. It provides the ultimate peace of mind and a brand-new look for your basement.
